Definition

Bruxism

Bruxism is a medical term for grinding or clenching of the teeth. It often occurs during sleep, but can also occur during the day. The exact causes of bruxism are not always clear, but it can be triggered by various factors. These include stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, unusual tooth positions and alcohol or caffeine consumption. This constant clenching of the jaw and grinding of the teeth can strain the muscles and often leads to muscle tension in the jaw and neck area, tooth damage, jaw pain and other complaints.

Treatment

How Calopad helps with bruxism

The Calopad can promote blood circulation in the affected joint area through the application of deep heat, which can relieve pain and improve the elasticity of the surrounding tissue.

It is also a common method to wear a night splint to protect the teeth from grinding during sleep. Stress reduction techniques such as meditation and relaxation exercises can also be helpful.
