Frozen shoulder
Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition in which the mobility of the shoulder joint is significantly restricted. This occurs due to inflammation and thickening of the joint capsule surrounding the shoulder. Frozen shoulder can be caused by various factors, including injury, overuse, post-operative complications or psychological factors such as stress. In the first phase of this condition, severe pain in the shoulder predominates. In the second phase, the stiffness of the shoulder joint increases, making it difficult to lift the arm forwards and to the side, rotate it externally or move it behind the back.
How Calopad helps with frozen shoulder
The application of deep heat leads to an expansion of the blood vessels in the body, which results in increased blood flow and thus brings more oxygen and nutrients to the treated areas. This not only improves the removal of waste products, but also helps to relax the surrounding muscles. In addition, deep heat stimulates the skin's thermoreceptors, which can influence the sensation of pain by sending fewer pain signals to the brain.
Targeted physiotherapy and mobility & strength training are helpful for frozen shoulder to maintain the mobility of the joint and strengthen the muscles. This is why the Calopad Care Abo combines passive heat treatment with active therapies, such as muscle building, to ensure comprehensive treatment.
