Definition

Cruciate ligament rupture

The cruciate ligaments, consisting of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, are crucial for the stability of the knee joint, as they limit the forward and backward movement of the tibia in relation to the thigh. An ACL tear, particularly of the anterior cruciate ligament, is a common sports injury that occurs when the ligament is excessively stretched or torn by forceful or abrupt movements, such as twisting or jumping. This injury results in pain, swelling and significant destabilization of the knee joint, often resulting in limited range of motion and the need for surgical repair or physical therapy to restore function. In addition to these symptoms, a torn ACL often leads to severe tightness of the surrounding muscles, which can exacerbate the pain and restricted movement.

Treatment

How Calopad helps with cruciate ligament rupture

The Calopad can promote blood circulation in the affected joint area through the application of heat, which can relieve pain and improve the elasticity of the surrounding tissue, helping to relieve pain and relax the surrounding muscles.

Targeted physiotherapy and mobility & strength training are helpful in restoring joint mobility and strengthening muscles after a cruciate ligament rupture. This is why the Calopad Care Abo combines passive heat treatment with active therapies, such as muscle building, to ensure comprehensive treatment.
